The Spanish surgeon will present the latest advances in reconstructive surgery and arthroscopy in the Darwin Convention Centre
The Convention Centre of the city of Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory, is hosting –from Thursday to Saturday– the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian Hand Surgery Society (http://www.tayloredimages.com.au/ahss2013/index.html), with Dr. Del Piñal as international guest speaker.
Del Piñal intense activity starts next Thursday at 8.00 am. (Local time, 16:30 in Spain) with the presentation “Arthroscopic Management of Distal Radial Fractures”. Subsequently, he’ll address carpal pathologies linked to trauma in the distal segment of the radius (“Carpal Instabilities Associated with Distal Radius Fractures”).
Finally, Del Piñal will close the meeting Thursday agenda with ‘Arthroscopic Management of Sequelae after Fractures of the Distal Radius: Corrective Osteotomy and Osteochondral Grafts’.
In Friday’s scientific sessions, the Spanish surgeon will present arthroscopical intervention techniques for cases of ulnar pain; whereas Saturday will be the turn to microsurgery dedicated papers.
Thus, Del Piñal will talk about the use of toe to hand transfers as reconstruction technique (‘Advances in Toe Transfer for Reconstruction’), together with the treatment of crush injuries of the hand.
‘Expanding frontiers’
The event’s convenor, Dr. Philip Griffin, in his welcome message to the participants in the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian Hand Surgery Society, features Dr. Del Piñal as a physician who “has expanded the frontiers of reconstructive microsurgery and arthroscopy in wrist trauma in Europe”.
