This nationwide scientific-medical meeting, in its 48th edition, took place from June 5 to 7 in the town of Arona, Tenerife (Canary Islands).

Dr. Francisco del Piñal delivered -on June 7- one of the two keynote addresses of the 48th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (known in Spanish as SECPRE). In his speech, Piñal spoke about the role of the plastic surgeon in the hand surgery of the 21st century.

Previously, the Spanish surgeon had taken part in the round table of surgical techniques applied to the upper extremity and the hand, in which he exposed the joint rescue by autologous reconstruction.

The central leitmotiv of this scientific-medical meeting, held in the town of Arona in Tenerife, was breast reconstruction in oncological patients who underwent a mastectomy intervention. In this sense, the congress has had the support of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (known in Spanish as AECC).
