London hosted last 7th and 8th November the medical meeting ‘Challenges and Controversies in Hand Surgery’, promoted by the Anglia Ruskin University and St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery, with the support of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.
The Spanish surgeon Francisco del Piñal took a leading role in the second day of the event as a speaker and moderator at various points on the agenda.
Thus, Del Piñal co-chaired, along with British Ian Trail, the session on osteoarthritis of the thumb trapeziometacarpal joint. Besides, he presented the papers ‘Innovations in microsurgery of the digits’ and ‘Challenges in small bone defects reconstruction by vascularized bone transfer’.
In addition, Dr. Del Piñal shared with the participants his practical experience in the implementation of the surgical technique of dry arthroscopy.
