The Spanish surgeon will participate in Melbourne in the 12th edition of this triennial meeting
The Australian city of Melbourne will host the 12th edition of the triennial congress of the Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (APFSSH). The meeting, one of the main ones on surgery of the upper limb on an international scale, will feature Dr Francisco del Piñal among his nine main guest speakers.
The Spanish surgeon will share cast with the American doctors Chung, Colditz, Moran and Wolff, Canadians Ho and Lalonde, as well as with Swiss Daniel Herren and Hongkongese Cecilia Li Tsang.
The central theme of the congress, ‘Hand surgery and the digital revolution’, will try to address the impact of new technological resources on the main items associated with hand surgery, in addition to presenting its main lines of scientific-medical progress.
Dr. Piñal’s participation will include a keynote lecture on complex regional pain syndrome or Sudeck’s atrophy, as well as various interventions on radius fractures and advanced wrist arthroscopy.
The several thousand delegates of the national groups attached to the APFSSH will meet at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center, which takes up the baton of the Philippine city of Cebu, which hosted the last edition of this medical event in 2017.
Born in Santander, northern Spain, in 1960, Dr Francisco del Piñal is considered one of the world’s best hand surgeons. His contributions in the fields of microsurgical toe to hand transfer or arthroscopic surgery techniques on wrist fractures are endorsed and used internationally.
