The patient, a 20-month-old toddler, Vizcaya, suffered crushing amputation of the right thumb. A ‘great toe’ is transferred to the hand, while the index toe of the donor foot is surgically slightly shifted to prevent loss of stability.

In less than a year, the thumb pinch-gripping function is recovered, with also a remarkable aesthetic improvement.
