Piñal has performed more than 500 toe to hand autotransplants in cases of amputation or mutilation of the upper extremity, with a success rate of 99%.

Since 1970 the Buncke Clinic has been at the forefront of international advances in reconstruction surgery, being a leading center in microsurgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and hand surgery. Its founder, Harry J. Buncke, was a pioneering figure in this field of medicine thanks to his contributions to the development of new surgical procedures.

Born in Santander, northern Spain, in 1960, Dr Francisco del Piñal is considered one of the world’s best hand surgeons. His contributions in topics like reconstruction of catastrophic hands or arthroscopic surgery techniques on wrist fractures are endorsed and used internationally.
