ألقى الطبيبان المرموقان بينال وتونكين محاضرات عبر الإنترنت حول الجراحة المجهرية، مع التركيز على التقدم في علاج عيوب اليد الخلقية، وتشوهات الإبهام، ومشاكل اليد الكارثية. نظمت الجمعية الكندية لجراحة اليد “يومًا علميًا” حول الجراحة المجهرية في جامعة مونتريال (كندا)، وتمت دعوة البروفيسورين بينيال وتونكين لتقديم محاضرات عبر الإنترنت حول التقدم في علاج مشاكل اليد الخلقية، وتشوهات الإبهام، واليد الكارثية شروط. ودعا البروفيسور دومينيك تريمبلاي، مدير برنامج الجراحة التجميلية المتخصصة في جراحة اليد والمعصم والأعصاب الطرفية في جامعة مونتريال، الأطباء للمشاركة في هذا الحدث. وتضمنت مشاركة الدكتور بينيال محاضرة حول التقدم في علاج مشاكل اليد الخلقية، وتشوهات الإبهام، وحالات اليد الكارثية. تم تطوير البرنامج بالتعاون مع جمعية أخصائيي الجراحة التجميلية والتجميلية في كيبيك، إلى جانب برنامج الجراحة التجميلية في جامعة مونتريال. تهدف هذه المحاضرات إلى تحديد مؤشرات إعادة بناء الإبهام، والتعرف على مؤشرات إعادة بناء الإبهام لدى الأطفال، وفهم مخاطر وفوائد ومضاعفات عمليات إعادة بناء الإبهام، والتعرف على التحديات التي يواجهها المريض الذي يعاني من صدمة الإبهام، وتطوير المهارات اللازمة لحل الحالات المعقدة، ودمج معارف وأبحاث الأعضاء والمقيمين في تطوير العروض العلمية، من بين أهداف أخرى. الدكتور بينيال هو رائد عالمي في إدارة إصابات اليد الكارثية وعواقبها. وهو مؤلف العديد من المقالات حول الإدارة التي تعتبر من الكلاسيكيات والقراءة الأساسية:
