The prestigious doctors Piñal and Tonkin delivered online lectures on Microsurgery, focusing on advances in congenital hand treatment, thumb anomalies, and catastrophic hand issues.

The Canadian Society for Hand Surgery organized a “Scientific Day” on microsurgery at the University of Montreal (Canada), and Professors Piñal and Tonkin were invited to present online lectures on advances in the treatment of congenital hand issues, thumb anomalies, and catastrophic hand conditions.

Professor Dominique Tremblay, the director of the specialized Plastic Surgery program in hand, wrist, and peripheral nerve surgery at the University of Montreal, invited the doctors to participate in this event.

Dr. Piñal’s participation included a lecture on advances in the treatment of congenital hand issues, thumb anomalies, and catastrophic hand conditions. The program was developed in collaboration with the Association of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Specialists of Quebec, along with the Plastic Surgery Program at the University of Montreal.

These lectures aimed to identify indications for thumb reconstruction, recognize indications for thumb reconstruction in children, understand the risks, benefits, and complications of thumb reconstruction surgeries, recognize the challenges of a patient who has suffered thumb trauma, develop skills to solve complex cases, and integrate the knowledge and research of members and residents into the development of scientific presentations, among other objectives.

Dr. Piñal is a world leader in the management of catastrophic hand injuries and their consequences. He is the author of several articles on management considered classics and essential reading:
