For Dr Francisco Piñal, it is a source of great satisfaction to see Unai competing at the highest level after undergoing surgery performed by our team. The procedure consisted of a wrist arthroscopy to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that enables a complete view of the joint through a small camera, allowing for an accurate diagnosis and precise repair of injuries while minimising damage to the surrounding tissues. Its main advantages include reduced postoperative pain, faster functional recovery and less surgical trauma compared with traditional open surgery.

Unai’s outstanding performances throughout this World Cup, culminating in the title and the individual recognition as the tournament’s best goalkeeper, reflect the dedication, perseverance and hard work invested throughout his rehabilitation process, together with the commitment and expertise of the healthcare professionals who supported him every step of the way.
