“More than Microsurgery” was the title of the Keynote Lecture given by Dr. Francisco Piñal at the XXV Congress of the Spanish Society for Hand Surgery (SECMA), held in La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia).

“More than Microsurgery” was the title of the keynote address delivered by Dr. Francisco Piñal at the XXV Congress of the Spanish Society for Hand Surgery (SECMA), held in La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia) from April 27 to 29. Chaired by Dr. Fernando García de Lucas (pictured below), with Dr. Alexis Studer serving as the president of the Organizing Committee.

The participation of the Spanish surgeon covered a broad range of topics, highlighting the latest advancements in arthroscopic surgery or reconstructive microsurgery, in addition to his work on complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) or Sudeck’s dystrophy.

The Congress marked the first event under the new regulations approved by the Assembly, adapted to the current times, and has proven beneficial for the Society, maintaining the scientific and interest level that characterizes the National Congress of SECMA.

Born in 1960 in Santander, Dr. Francisco del Piñal is considered one of the world’s top hand surgeons. His contributions in fields such as microsurgical toe-to-hand transplantation or arthroscopic surgery techniques for wrist fractures are acknowledged and applied on an international scale.
