enfermedad de Sudeck,

During the joint Congress of the Spanish Society for Surgery of the Hand (SECMA) and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), the renowned surgeon Dr. Francisco Piñal participated with an outstanding presentation focused on Sudeck’s disease, also known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy or complex regional pain.

This chronic musculoskeletal pathology, characterised by intense pain, joint stiffness, skin hypersensitivity, inflammation, redness and excessive sweating, affects the upper limb with particular intensity. More than a century after it was first described by the German surgeon Paul Südeck, Dr Piñal has made significant advances in its treatment.

Thanks to an exhaustive clinical approach, based on a detailed re-evaluation of each case and, when necessary, highly specialised surgical interventions, Dr. Piñal and his surgical unit have already cured dozens of patients. This procedure requires rigorous prior analysis, as well as great experience and technique, to detect and treat problems that often go unnoticed by other specialists.

Dr. Piñal’s participation in this prestigious congress reaffirms his position as one of the international leaders in the treatment of complex pathologies of the hand and upper limb.
