Cayetano will be off work for six weeks after undergoing surgery for a ‘very displaced dislocation of the right wrist’.
Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez has been operated on Monday in Santander by Doctor Piñal for a ‘very displaced dislocation of the right wrist which also presented avulsion of the entire volar rim of the radius with the ligaments and a fragment of the radial styloid. As a result of the injury which occurred last Sunday in the Socuéllamos bullring after being caught by his first bull. The bullfighter will have to wear a splint for 6 weeks and will then begin rehabilitation. This is Cayetano’s full medical report:
MEDICAL REPORT OF CAYETANO RIVERA ORDÓÑEZ:
Fracture dislocation of the right wrist very displaced in the x-rays on the 6th. On the 7th, imaging tests confirmed the seriousness of the injury which included avulsion of the entire volar rim of the radius with the ligaments and a fragment of the radial styloid. On the same day, under loco-regional anaesthesia and sedation, the dislocation was reduced by a volar approach. A DVR plate with temporary fixation with K-wires was installed and the articular fragments of the scaphoid fossa and lunate were reduced by arthroscopy. The volar fragment containing the radio semilunate ligament is sutured with a stitch arthroscopically to the plate. The incision is closed in planes. The wrist is immobilised with a splint that we will keep for 6 weeks with the idea of starting rehabilitation at that time.
Signed: Dr. Francisco Piñal.
