Dr. Piñal, an international leader in reconstructive hand surgery and a pioneer in arthroscopic techniques applied to complex cases
Renowned Spanish surgeon Dr. Francisco Piñal was one of the leading figures at the Congress of the European Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH), held from 25 to 28 June in Helsinki, Finland. The event brought together more than 2,000 surgeons from around the world, establishing itself as one of the most important international events in the field of hand surgery.
Dr Piñal, widely recognised for his experience and contributions in the treatment of complex cases, addressed two topics at this year’s congress: catastrophic hand injuries and severe mutilations with amputations, a field in which he is considered a world authority; and advanced reconstructions using arthroscopy, a discipline in which he also enjoys widespread prestige for his innovative surgical techniques.
In addition to his scientific contributions, Dr Piñal played a central role in the development of the congress as chairman of the scientific committee, leading the selection and coordination of the academic content presented during the conference. His work has been key to ensuring the quality and level of excellence of the presentations, consolidating the prestige of the FESSH as a leading forum for specialists in the field.
The congress served not only as a meeting point for leading global experts, but also as a space for sharing the latest advances, surgical techniques and clinical cases in the field of hand and upper limb surgery.
