Enfermedad de Sudeck

José, is a patient from Seville who 8 years ago had a traffic accident and developed reflex sympathetic dystrophy, Sudeck’s disease or complex regional pain.

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy, Sudeck’s dystrophy or complex regional pain is a very painful chronic musculoskeletal pathology that affects the upper limb with particular intensity. It causes stiffness of the joints, with poor mobility, a burning sensation accompanied by skin hypersensitivity, severe swelling (due to abnormal accumulation of fluid in the tissues), redness, sweating, etc.

“Of all the patients I have operated on for reflex sympathetic dystrophy, Sudeck’s disease or complex regional pain, which is what the disease is called, one of the ones I know has had the worst time and I like to talk about him is José. He is a patient from Seville who 8 years ago had a traffic accident, a shoulder traumatism and developed this painful syndrome after the intervention”.

It is a surgical procedure that requires an exhaustive previous analysis and great experience and technique to rule out, locate and address the source of a problem that has gone unnoticed by other surgeons.
