Why did you choose Dr. Piñal’s residency programme?
Since I began studying Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Uruguay, I read Dr. Piñal’s pioneering work and came to know him as a world-renowned upper limb surgeon.
As soon as I confirmed that Madrid was my destination, I didn’t hesitate to apply for a place.

How would you describe your experience from a professional point of view?
I had the honour of completing a two-month internship programme with Dr. Piñal’s team. It was a challenging and enriching experience overall.
During this period, I had the opportunity to work closely with a highly qualified team, actively participating in daily consultations, observing and learning from complex procedures, and acquiring practical knowledge that went far beyond the theoretical.

How was your personal interaction with Dr. Piñal?
The work environment encouraged curiosity and continuous learning, and Dr. Piñal kept us motivated with interesting questions and detailed analyses of clinical cases that, in my opinion, broadened my clinical skills and perspective.

Could you share some comments about the rest of the staff, including surgeons, anaesthetists, therapists and administration?
The entire team is exceptional; their dedication and professionalism were truly inspiring.

Madrid, personal impressions of the city, places not to be missed, advice for new residents…
I fell in love with Madrid and its different pace of life. The city is vibrant, diverse and full of history. There is always something different and interesting to do; you just have to go out for a walk and Madrid will find you.
My five favourite places to visit are: Retiro Park, El Rastro, La Latina neighbourhood, El Capricho Historical Garden and the Prado Museum.
And as I consider myself a foodie, let me recommend some places to visit (be sure to book in advance): Nakeima, Bo Coffee, La Carboneria, Lamiak, Alto Bardero, Vinology Zurbano, Juana La Loca.

Anything else you would like to add?
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity.
Thank you, Dr Piñal, and thank you to the whole team for your patience and kindness.
