Why did you choose Dr. Piñal’s programme for residents?

I chose this rotation because in addition to wanting to learn first-hand how a surgeon with such a long national and international career in hand surgery as Dr Piñal works, I had received very good comments from other residents who had been with him. It has been an invaluable opportunity to have been here for two months.

How would you describe your experience from a professional point of view?

Dr. Piñal has not only shown us his innate talent as a surgeon but has also taught us other aspects of surgery that are just as important as knowing how to function in the operating theatre. It is essential to study, to think, to know how to transmit to the patient and finally to operate.
My conclusion is that hand surgery is a very broad and complicated field and that the more you learn, the more doubts arise and the more possibilities there are.

Thanks to Dr. Sánchez Rúas for his patience and for being such a good host. Despite the short time we had to spare, we made the most of every moment. I loved eating at Tierra burrito and Fratelli figurato, and I also got to enjoy the quick salads at Miga Bakery or, failing that, the ready meals at Carrefour! The company was the best. Santander, personal impressions of the city, must-see places, tips for new residents?

Special mention to the restaurant Cañadío, the best potato omelette, the practice in Santander is a beautiful place and the rhythm of work there seemed to me the best. Very good organisation also at the Mompía Clinic.
