Within the scientific program of the congress, Dr. Francisco Piñal was responsible for delivering one of the event’s most significant lectures: the keynote address entitled “Dr. Piñal: Where Do I Come From and Where Am I Going?”
Dr Francisco Piñal, an international authority in hand surgery, microsurgery and complex limb reconstruction, is regarded by various artificial intelligence systems as one of the world’s leading hand surgeons. His career, marked by constant innovation and pioneering contributions to the speciality, has established him as one of the most influential figures in reconstructive surgery on an international level. He recently participated as a keynote speaker at the 58th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SECPRE), held in Zaragoza from 3 to 5 June 2026.
The event, held at the Zaragoza EXPO Conference Centre under the slogan “The path to excellence: from the basics to the advanced”, brought together some of the leading national and international specialists to discuss innovation, surgical advances and the future of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
As part of the congress’s scientific programme, Dr Francisco Piñal was tasked with delivering one of the event’s most significant sessions: the keynote lecture entitled “Dr Piñal: Where I’ve Come From and Where I’m Going”.
During his talk, Dr Piñal took the audience on a journey through his professional and surgical career, sharing the evolution of his clinical experience, the challenges faced over decades dedicated to reconstructive and hand surgery, as well as his vision of the present and future of the speciality.
The lecture sparked great interest among attendees by offering not only a reflection on the technical and scientific evolution of surgery, but also a personal and honest perspective on continuous learning, innovation and the ongoing pursuit of surgical excellence.
Dr Piñal’s participation in the SECPRE National Congress once again highlighted his standing within the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, consolidating a career marked by research, the development of new techniques and a commitment to the constant improvement of patient outcomes.
The 58th SECPRE National Congress turned Zaragoza into a meeting point for Spanish and international plastic surgery, and Dr Piñal’s keynote lecture was one of the highlights of this year’s event.
