Manuel Morugán, a 31-year-old golfer from Andalusia, has secured victory in the Abruzzo Alps Open on the Alps Tour held at the Miglianico Golf & Country Club in Pescara, Italy, following wrist tendon surgery performed by Dr. Piñal.
The Spanish golfer had to undergo surgery with Dr. Piñal last year due to a wrist tendon injury that prevented him from playing. “This victory is very special to me since last year I couldn’t compete due to wrist tendon surgery that kept me from playing. I am very happy for the win, especially after achieving it in a playoff. I have an incredible family, team, and girlfriend who support me in my career; I wouldn’t have achieved this triumph without them. I am definitely looking forward to returning to Italy and playing in the next event in Molinetto,” said Manuel after lifting the title.
Dr. Piñal has an extensive track record in treating injuries in elite athletes, including judoka Gaya Bar, Israeli judo Olympic medalist Or Sasson in Rio 2016, and Spanish world sailing champion Tara Pacheco, among many others.
Born in 1960 in Santander, Dr. Francisco del Piñal is considered one of the world’s top hand surgeons. His contributions in fields such as microsurgical toe-to-hand transfers or arthroscopic surgery techniques for wrist fractures are acknowledged and applied on an international scale.
