Professor Francisco Piñal invited to Madrid Wrist Course

Aimed at orthopaedic surgery and traumatology specialists, residents, physiotherapists and occupational therapists with special interest in hand and wrist surgery, especially arthroscopy-assisted techniques.

On Thursday 16th February, the Madrid Wrist Course was held at the San Pablo CEU University in Boadilla del Monte. Course on wrist arthroscopy techniques and reconstructive surgery.
Professor Francisco Piñal, special guest, addressed the malunion of the radius and reflex sympathetic dystrophy, Sudeck’s dystrophy or complex regional pain (CRPS) of the wrist. It is a very painful chronic musculoskeletal pathology that affects the upper limb with particular intensity. It causes stiffness of the joints, with poor mobility, a burning sensation accompanied by skin hypersensitivity, severe swelling (due to the abnormal accumulation of fluid in the tissues), redness, sweating, etc.
Top specialists from all over the world have participated in the course, such as the course organiser, Dr. Pedro. J. Delgado, head of the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Unit of the HM Monteprincipe University Hospital, Dr. Fernando Corella, traumatologist and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand and wrist at Quironsalud Madrid Hospital. Dr. Riccardo Luchetti, specialist in degenerative and traumatic pathology of bones, joints, tendons and nerves of the hand of Rimini in Italy and Dr. Andrea Atzei traumatologist of the Clinica Privata Villa Medea in Italy, among many others from the United States, Brazil and France.
